Last week I was lucky to attend the TRETC Conference. My last session of the day was how to "Gamify" your classroom. Andrew Gardner (twitter @agardnahh) from BrainPop and Cathie Gilner from Fox Chapel were there to present. They demonstrated the answer to the question "Why Games?".
This week's tip features GameUp, a section of BrainPop and BrainPopJr. The games are selected for the sites based on this rubric Click Here! Some games are developed by BrainPop and some are from other sites. I never knew about this feature, probably because the button to click is the size of a postage stamp!
Although a subscription to BrainPOP opens up a lot of other features and videos, the games are free. Games are sorted by subject area but, I suggest using Brain Pop Educators to search for BrainPop resources by common core and grade level.
If you have access to tablets in your classroom, check out BrainPop Apps.
BrainPop offers a featured video each day and Jr. offers a video each week. Each video is followed by a quiz. Unfortunately, GameUp is not supported on devices.

I hope you can take a few minutes to check out BrainPop and BrainPop Jr. GameUp!
